These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the SafeRoutes.online website at https://saferoutes.online(the "Service"), operated by SafeRoutes.online ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Description of Service
SafeRoutes.online is a free, informational web application that aggregates publicly available travel advisory data, conflict event information, live flight tracking data, and airline route information to help users identify flight routes that avoid countries with elevated safety risks. The Service includes:
- An interactive map displaying country safety levels based on government travel advisories
- A route finder that suggests flight paths avoiding high-risk countries
- Live flight position tracking
- Airport disruption status indicators
- Conflict event markers
- Third-party booking links (Trip.com)
2. Important Disclaimers
2.1 Not Professional Security Advice
The Service is provided for informational purposes only and does NOT constitute professional security advice, travel advice, or flight safety certification. The information displayed is aggregated from public sources and may be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate, or outdated.
2.2 No Guarantee of Safety
A route being labeled as "safe" by our Service does NOT guarantee that the route is actually safe to fly.Safety conditions can change rapidly during conflicts. Airspace closures, NOTAMs (Notices to Air Missions), airline-specific route decisions, and real-time military actions may not be reflected in our data. Always verify with:
- Your airline directly
- Official government travel advisories (travel.state.gov, gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice)
- Your country's aviation authority
- Professional security consultants for high-risk travel
2.3 Data Accuracy
We make reasonable efforts to display accurate and current data, but we do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or timeliness of any information on the Service. Data sources include:
- US State Department: Advisory levels may lag behind rapidly evolving situations by hours or days
- UK FCDO: Advisory levels may differ from US assessments for the same country
- GDELT: Conflict events are derived from news articles and may include false positives or miss events
- OpenSky Network: Flight positions may have gaps due to ADS-B coverage limitations
- OpenFlights: Airline route data may not reflect recent route additions, cancellations, or seasonal changes
- OurAirports: Airport data may not reflect temporary closures or status changes
2.4 No Liability for Travel Decisions
You are solely responsible for your travel decisions. SafeRoutes.online, its operators, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any loss, injury, death, damage, delay, expense, or inconvenience arising from your use of or reliance on information provided by the Service, including but not limited to:
- Decisions to travel to or through any country based on information from the Service
- Flight disruptions, cancellations, or rerouting not reflected in our data
- Financial losses from booked flights that are subsequently cancelled or disrupted
- Personal harm or security incidents during travel
- Visa, entry, or transit issues at countries suggested by the route finder
3. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Attempt to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service in a manner that overloads our servers or violates rate limits
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
- Use the Service to collect personal information about other users
- Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without permission (the underlying data from public APIs is subject to those sources' respective terms)
- Use automated means to access the Service at a rate that exceeds reasonable use
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when using the Service
4. Third-Party Links and Services
4.1 Booking Links (Trip.com)
The Service contains affiliate links to Trip.com for flight booking. When you click a booking link:
- You leave SafeRoutes.online and are redirected to Trip.com
- Your booking, payment, and all related transactions are governed by Trip.com's terms and conditions
- We are not a party to any booking transaction and have no responsibility for Trip.com's services, pricing, availability, or customer support
- We may receive a commission from Trip.com for bookings made through our links — this does not affect the price you pay
- Flight availability and pricing shown on Trip.com may differ from what is implied by our route suggestions
4.2 External Data Sources
The Service displays data from third-party sources (US State Department, UK FCDO, GDELT, OpenSky, etc.). We are not responsible for the accuracy or availability of these external data sources. Links to external government travel advisory pages are provided for your convenience — we do not control their content.
5. Intellectual Property
5.1 Our Content
The Service's design, user interface, logos, graphics, and original text content are the property of SafeRoutes.online. The route-finding algorithm, data aggregation methodology, and presentation are our original work.
5.2 Third-Party Data
Travel advisory data, conflict event data, flight tracking data, airport data, airline route data, and map tiles are sourced from third parties under their respective open data licenses and terms of use. These remain the property of their respective owners.
5.3 Open Source Components
The Service uses open-source software components including Next.js, Leaflet.js, and others, each subject to their own licenses (MIT, BSD, etc.).
6. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAFEROUTES.ONLINE AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, WHICH IN ALL CASES IS ZERO (₹0) SINCE THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for certain damages. In such cases, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SafeRoutes.online, its operators, affiliates, and contributors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
8. Service Availability
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free operation
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice
- We may perform maintenance, updates, or changes that temporarily affect availability
- Third-party data sources may become unavailable, which would affect the Service's functionality
9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, India.

10. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
11. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other legal notices published on the Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and SafeRoutes.online regarding the use of the Service.
12. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. If you disagree with any changes, you should stop using the Service.
